i was watching a reformed alco on morning tv.with his expert counsellor telling us we should put more tax on drink, but why should the moderate drinker pay more just because some weak people love the teaste and can't get enough ot the stuff it seems to me we have run out of idea's for our social promblems, so we just put a tax on it to try and fix it,
let get some people into power who can solve stuff without more tax's

do alco's get money to buy booze every day my old mate the road sweeper says the do i dont belive it if so who gives it to them, he also said they are never short of money to buy it y not put a tax on being drunk the rest of us could just carry on regardless

I was listening to that story on the radio today. One of the main issues was with 13 or so kids a day are being admitted to hospital with drink-related illness (alco-poisoning, falling down drunk...)

'Must put up price of booze to stop kids buying it....'

Isn't it already illegal to sell drink to under 18's??!

I'm with Billyo et al- why punish the moderate drinkers for the heavy drinkers failings?

and it they do put a higher tax on drink, what are they going to spend the extra coffers on? War? 'national security'? More CCTV?

It's enough to drive you to drink!
