Saw a documentary about her, she pointed out that when she first started performing there were no microphones so her voice had to be powerfull enough to be heard at the backof a theatre. And when she started using microphones she had to retrain her voice to avoid deafening people.

Also a very brave lady trekking off to the most inhospitable places to entertain the troops.
