Right just had the tiler finish the bathrooms and kitchen and were not to happy with the job tbh.

We've a big hole at the back of the toilet, and the tiles in the kitchen to the left the last 2 are too short.

Spoke to the tiler who's coming back Friday to add some grout to the back of the toilets.

He reckons the gaps to small to cut a tile in the big grout bit.

Am I being to fussy?

no your not being fussy he is no tiler
was he the cheapist quote

No that's the thing he was just the guy who ticked all the boxes, wanted to board the bathrooms first, trim all the kickboards and doors etc

Will see what he says Friday but I'm not happy with the big grout bit surely you can get a slim cut down there so it doesn't stand out so much? And the tiles need to be recut so there level.

TBF he's saved us 4 packs worth of tiles which will get us over £120 back, but I'd rather he used Mrs to get the cuts right

The two tiles cut short are lazy work, especially as the rest show he can do the job properly, bit it might be better to add a piece of quadrant UPVC trim to the bottom of the door rather than risk buggering up the floor. The big hole shows lack of preparation in not working out where the tiles will fall. Now that gap can be filled, possibly not perfectly, but a good tile cutter should be able to shave a splinter off of a tile if done slowly. The gap behind the toilet is big enough to add a piece of tile in, if he'd laid a paper template around the toilet first, then he'd have got a much better cut on the tile.

Nope, you're not being fussy at all.

Thanks for the replies.

Well I think all he's going to do Friday is add aload of grout behind the toilet,I'd like him to cut a smaller piece just so it's not all grout.

I don't think he's going to cut another tile to fill that gap although I will push for it even though there's going to be a mat there,it feels like I'm having to hide the floor!

How easy would it be to pull those 2 tiles out and recut another 2 and would it disturb the floor around it?

What would be best to use to stick the uPVC trim if need be to the bottom of the door frame

You can superglue the upvc trim to the door itself at the bottom, and a few dabs of superglue underneath it to keep it secured to the floor. You might get the tiles out easiy if it wasn't done that long ago, but you can't guarantee to get them back in neatly, and level.

They went in lunch time today but he's not coming back until Friday so they'll be pretty set in by that time.

Don't get me started on level it's only a few tiles

Considering there's no toilet fitted it's just laziness why he hasn't tiled round the back of the waste fitting.

Same with the short tiles.

I do my own, takes longer than a professional but I can take as long as I like over the awkward bits!.

Tiling in first pic was not planned correctly, you avoid any small cuts and plan tiles accordingly.

Well he's coming abck 2mos and I definitely want the 2 short tiles cutting again.

He's not going to cut round the toilet again as that's been down since Monday.I might see if he can cut a bit so it's not all grout at the back.

With the big grout strip should I push to get him to cut a little strip although he's already said it's to small to get a decent cut

Right mates coming over tomorrow with his angle grinder and bits he reckons we could do a better cut round the waste pipe than the tiler.

Question is how easy is it going to be to get the tiles out?

If we get decent cuts I'm going to ask the tiler to put our cuts in.

Once the angle grinder has cut a channel, you can then use a chisel and bolster (or crowbar) to prise them up, but he'll need a wet cutting diamond blade to do the thin cuts.

Thanks will see how we get on. Sure he said he's got a few diamond blades going to try using a small 110 angle grinder.

I'll then want the tiler to take out the old tiles and put our cuts in (if there any good)

I'm more worried about confronting the tiler as the last thing I want is an argument.

You know you're right, so just stand your ground, and be calm and polite. If he wishes to argue, then that's his choice, just don't argue back.
