If think it isnt, then do show me evidence where a nation state can impose any restrictions it likes on freedom of movement.

Freedom of movement is not the right to roam and settle anywhere at will. As you point out there are restrictions but those restrictions are wide ranging but rarely used (or never) employed by successive UK governments.
So any disappointment with the "freedom of movement" principle is generated by the inability or unwillingness of successive UK governments to apply those restrictions.

It shall entail the right, subject to limitations justified on grounds of public policy, public security or public health:
(a) to accept offers of employment actually made;
(b) to move freely within the territory of Member States for this purpose;
(c) to stay in a Member State for the purpose of employment in accordance with the provisions governing the employment of nationals of that State laid down by law, regulation or administrative action;
(d) to remain in the territory of a Member State after having been employed in that State, subject to conditions which shall be embodied in implementing regulations to be drawn up by the Commission.

In both the Treaty of Accession 2003 and the Treaty of Accession 2005, there is a clause about a transition period before workers from the new member states can be employed on an equal, non-discriminatory terms in the old member states.

If there had been honesty about immigration, then we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

I fully understand immigration has been a scapegoat and successive governments have, for various reasons not exercised available controls on EU immigration, but those on here that imply free movement of people can be overridden by a member state aren't helping the debate at all.

A**e end and I inevitably hold different views. His views, allegations, reports of what he heard on the radio, etc, are based on lies and fantasy. It is impossible to rely on anything he says. Everything has to be considered lies and/or fantasy.
