coming home i stopped on a roundabout to give way to a paramedic in a car. hundred meters down the road, and ambulance past me. got nearer mine and both ambulance and car were at a house. now, WTF was the point in sending the car? fair enough if the closest ambulance was a further mile or 2 away, but they both left the same place, seconds apart....

the cars dont normally operate from the ambulance bases. They are normally assigned to an area to improve response times. the cars will also contain a highly trained paramedic, who is able to deal with a more complex incident and stabilise the victims compared to the crew of the ambulance.
so thats the point really, it can save lives!
