Update: I have successfully cancelled this order. Thank you to everyone for the advice.
Hi all,
I've been looking at getting my DG replaced and my gutters/facia/soffits replaced. I have a 3 bed detached house.
Anglian have quoted me £4648 for 16m of guttering, 16m soffit/fascia and 2 downpipes and £7755 for 10 windows, a sliding patio door and a composite front door. This includes scaffolding.
My plan was to get at least 2/3 local guys in then decide, but I've just realised I only have until Monday to exercise my right to cancel the order within 7 days. I've got three local companies booked in for this week, but Anglian were literally around in hours and after dropping to these prices and literally begging me I agreed the £249 deposit.
I got talked into the special price which I know was stupid, and now I'm freaking out about all the 1 star reviews on trustpilot and thinking to just cancel anyway. I only got them to quote because one neighbour had a door fitted a few weeks ago and said they were great, and my other neighbour had Anglian do her windows a few years back and also said they were fine. So I thought based on local experience and to get a ball park figure it would be worthwhile.
Some recent reviews on trustpilot are pretty bad, poor aftersales service waiting for months to resolve problems and poor install quality/ damage to property not being sorted out. But were these the unlucky few that just look bad because they have so many customers? As they are national could it be that there are regional areas of poor work/service but based on my neighbours' reports this area has a good team? There are more positive reviews that counter the negative ones as well. I just don't know if I have a bad feeling about this and should just abort or whether I'm over reacting and just getting the jitters because of the money involved and no going back after Monday. From what I can work out price doesn't look that way out, but with so many people saying run for the hills never use this company it has got me on edge, especially since I probably won't get my other quotes in for at least another week and by then it will be too late to cancel.
Opinions welcome, just please don't tell me I'm dumb for signing a contract before I was 100% certain, I know that was a mistake.
