Well you jolly well should. The lighting circuit wiring (maximum current = not very much) has a whopping great 32A MCB on the end of it. If you get a fault on that lighting lash up, then the wiring is likely to fry and catch fire. But, hey, its your house. Maybe there's nothing important in it………….
it turns out someone (not me, someone female) had also seen that switch a couple of days ago and had, in their expert opinion, figured that "it wasn't doing anything", so flicked it off!
