any guess if this is softwood or hardwood

hi

we bought a garden hammock about year ago and i need to coat it with protective finish for outdoor use. many products i saw were specifically for softwood or hardood or needed additional coating for hardwood.

is it possible for anyone to advise if this is softwood or hardwood? probably not enough information on the page but i thought might be worth trying with knowledgable people here...
