Is there any leeway on boiler services to maintain compliance with the manufacturers guarantee? I know that most cars under warranty are allowed 1 month/1000 miles either side of the service due date. My boiler was installed on 29/8 last year. I'd like the bloke that I installed it to service it but he can’t come till the end of next week. Should that be a problem?

No. Unless it breakdowns first.

I suppose that depends on boiler manufacturer? Some are doing anything to get out of long warranties now. apparently

Most engineers would not ask to see the service book if it were to break down.

Thanks. He is a Vaillant approved installer (and before anyone says it, I know that doesn’t imply competence).

Well, he seems to have disappeared as I've not heard from him for a while despite his promises to contact me. Looks like I'll have to go elsewhere. Meanwhile, I contacted Vaillant to ask what leeway they give and they said if it's the first service, that can be done up to 15 months from the date of installation so no rush now or need to get anything backdated.
