Anyone know how to get the front off this?

Hi all,

In the house I'm in all the kitchen sockets are like this...

There is no visible screws etc.

I presume they are stuck on with sealant or something??

But I just wanted to see if anyone had come across anything similar and whether they could advise how to remove them??

I don't want to damage the socket front as I remove it.

Look for a small hole under the bottom edge, use a small screwdriver and lever gently away from wall. To refit hook top over and press till click.

I suspect if its anything like the crabtree type of screwless fronts then the front is clipped on and you lever the front off with a screwdriver and behind that is the screws to unscrew the socket from the back box.

Looks like an MEM Eaton clip on face plate - so it should just clip off - normally by pushing up a little lever at the bottom right of the socket - if you look around the edge you should see it.

Can you see a plastic gasket that the socket plate is sat on?
(Looks like it may have had a paint job and hiding the gasket)
If you can see the gasket, normally you have groves/slots in the gasket, about 10mm long, maybe a little less. These could be at top, bottom or sides of the plate.
Using small flat head screwdriver, gently lever off.

ban-all-sheds, I can only assume that those scratches were made by the previous occupant (or my teenager / live-in burglar) as they ineffectually attempted to plug something in. Probably pawing at it repeatedly whilst texting someone regarding whether or not OMG is so last year....

I haven't attempted to remove it yet. Choosing instead the more sensible course of action which is to 'ask the experts'. (ie. you lot!)

Yep, I think that would be overkill for a socket front.

I might as well go the whole hog and hire a mini digger....
