AppleTV - worth it? Getting one jailbroken?

Buy an Amazon Firestick £35 from Argos. If you're computer minded go on You Tube and Search 'How to hack an Amazon Firestick'. There's loads of easy to follow videos on there how to do it.

Alternatively there are a lot of sellers about i.e. on Gumtree selling pre-hacked sticks. Pay anything between fifty and seventy quid.

You get every channel imaginable, Sky Movies, Sky sports, the film streaming sites like Exodus, 123Movies, SALT, UK Turks you name it. I've recently seen films off my Firestick that haven't made it to the cinema yet.

Illegal I know. Then again I'm as pure and innocent as the driven snow compared to most British politicians. Don't get me started on Thatcher and her gangsters.

Footnote: I'm not interested in the site puritans admonishing me. Go and polish yer tambourines and toll off the choirboys instead.

That's right. It's only an illegal act if you store something copyrighted. It's not illegal to view copyrighted content via a stream that is only in your cache.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. From now on I'll pay to watch Sky TV and Amazon Prime on my Apple iPad whilst sitting on my IKEA chair and drinking a Costa coffee after seeking them out on Google through my Vodafone broadband connection

So you should too. Without their efforts your fat arse would have no couch to sit on, no TV to show anything, nothing to stream onto it, no connection to stream it over

and just trust those H U G E multi-national corporations to pay the correct amount of corporation tax to the UK government instead of filtering it all through offshore companies so that we, the UK taxpayer, get nothing from it.

Oh, grow up. "I feel it's perfectly ok to rip some movie studio off for a few dollars on their epic work, because big bad Google doesn't pay a lot of corporation tax"

Do you transpose that to everything else? "I'm going to steal this trolley full of shopping because the price hike on the Sky subscription means I can no longer afford to eat"

Probably not

You've missed the point completely you sanctimonious muppet. As I said, I'm doing nothing illegal by watching free streamed content and neither are they by avoiding corporation tax. It's just my morals you seem to be concerned about and not theirs. I can't understand why - they're losing absolutely no revenue from my actions because I don't and won't pay for Sky or Amazon prime. Ever. Anyway, I thought the righteous brothers had disappeared years ago - I obviously got that wrong too as you're still knocking around.

Case scenario: Someone buys a load of Firesticks, hacks them with Kodi/ Mobdro etc. so the user can watch free Sky Movies, Sky Sports, the latest films, then sells them on Gumtree for a profit.
Question: Is he committing a criminal offence?

No doubt the all-knowing, all-seeing, omnipotent, omnipresent one whose sofa smells of dog........that acrid dog pong that one can taste as one enters the house......will be chipping in here. Animal-esque grunting sounds as he punches the exclamation mark key......it's that wonderful warm human feeling....oh yeah.....

So says Mr full stop .......... ........... ........... !

Edit: Whoops, I forgot one. Here you go, just for you!

It is not a criminal offence - correct - it is still an infringing copy see sec 96.

Excellent post thankyou Motorbiking. So is infringing copyright seen in the eyes of the law the same as fly tipping? Not illegal but a civil offence?
