Is that a link to a relevant article, is it an examination of the language used to describe smells in literature and how it enforced societal norms? You'll never truly know will you.

On a serious note: it's a fairly safe bet. Scientists who believe in natural variation are incredibly rare. The often quoted and tested stat is 97% agree it's mostly caused by humans.

Finding 3% of doctors who are very religious and/or include the placebo effect wouldn't be a stretch.

Amongst scientists the natural variation theory is up there with the miasma theory of infection or flat earthism.
