Yes Merloni did keep the Colston name going because at the time it was a good name. Colston was founded by Sir Charles Colston who started off by making dishwashers - small table top ones.

I remember after the Ariston takeover the Name Colston was in large print on the machines and the Ariston name in smaller print underneath. A year on this got swapped about and eventually the Colston name disappeared.
