I am really sick of this it happens time and time again. Seems when you buy almost anything regardless of cost that the item in question is usually ok, the the fixing supplied are absolutely crap. Case in point today... hanging a smallish wall mount rad, heavyish but not very heavy, supplied fairly flimsy brackets to be fixed on the wall with 65mm plugs and coach screws. Needless to say the coach screws were just mild steel pi55 poor quality and yes you guessed it I sheared one off.... mightily ticked off.... why in the the first place provide such ludicrous over kill fixings and then to add insult to injury provide shoite quality coach screws.... grrrrrr.... [/rant]

You drilled the hole too small.

...or not deep enough.

The curse of the Orient
You'll probably be able to redrill the bracket somewhere and use 8mm plugs with 5mm x 45mm screws.
John :)

You are not learning then.
Screws are mass produced their will always be a dodgy one somewhere.
Always use a lubricant when fitting screws, Candle wax works a treat.

And don't you love those screws they supply with hinges that don't quite sit fully in the countersink and are made of putty

Soap is the best.

I learnt years ago never to use the fixing supplied with an item unless it is very specialised.

And that my friend has been done.... why why why do I keep using the incredibly poor quality fixings supplied.... note to self, if the fixing is standard and structural, bin the supplied ones, they're invariably crap.

These days mate its hard to buy quality gear even if you wanted to......
some of the oriental car parts copies are truly frightening. Bought some Transit track rod ends from a big national supplier - looked like they had been brayed out of a railway line they were so rough.
John :)

Nope, the hole if anything was a bit too big and was certainly deep enough... oh well fixed with blue plugs and 2.5" screws, easily sturdy enough.... sorry I do realise I also have screwed the quote up, cursor jumped.

Fischer plugs and Spax screws.....unbeatable combination!
John :)

Can't really argue with that. I just don't get it, of course quality fixings cost 2/3 times as much, but in the scale of things they add not too many quid, but save oodles of time and stop my stress and expletive levels going through the roof!

I tend to use Reisser R2 screws now, seem as good as Spax but about 30% cheaper

ahh more deep joy, fitting the sink today, crappy quality clips, bent sink and the hole for the sink cut too large (not by me I hasten to add). deep deep joy. sigh!

and yet more joy, the cupboard and drawer screws are too small... I'll be glad when this ones done!! Its taking a long time BTW because of delivery times (plus a little inertia from myself!)
