Today it's all about ticks in boxes and targets. The police churned out at Hendon and the like are taught not to think for themselves, or to use any sort of discretion.

I was attacked (sorry if I told this story before) by a drugged up woman, in defending myself I injured her slightly on the head.

Despite a witness testifying that I was attacked and defended myself, I was arrested, held in custody for six hours before being released without charge.

During this time, the police were seemingly hell bent on trying to find another witness that would counter the other witness. When they could not I was released.

Today, our wonderful police seem to think that their duty is to protect the protect the criminal and prosecute the victim.

When I was released I asked if they now intended to arrest my attacker and was told that as she was under the influence of drugs, they could do nothing. FFS, what is that all about?

I think you're missing the point. They don't want the likes of us to tell them who we think is a criminal, nor what we think is a crime. It's far easier if they set their own guidelines and parameters (so they can fine us for speeding, or drinking coke at traffic lights, or dropping an apple etc etc etc). Then they can set their own crime reduction targets, having defined what they consider to be a crime, and so meet these targets.

The last thing they want is for us to expect them to keep us and our property safe - it gets in the way of their committees and free lunches.

Have you retaliated and assulted the attacker? Your friends (edit) will back your corner but this works in the attackers favour. You were sobre and fully aware of what you were doing. On the other hand, she was 'under the influence - and a woman'

So, if say a useless piece of property is perched on the end of a cliff and is not going to hurt anybody should it fall, should professionals risk there lives to retrieve it or should they let the insurance sort it out?

Are our forces obliged to retrieve relatively worthless pieces of property even if lives are endangered in doing so?

A vehicle worth £1000.00 might be worthless to you, but to others it is an amount they have never had and can't replace.

Yes, the police are their to prevent crime and retrieve stolen property. It's not a choice.

What next, save rich people and let the poor fend for themselves? Oh, sorry that is already how the law works isn't it?

Another story I remember on this forum, two pathetic instances by the same pathetic copper, can't remember one of them but the other was about a copper who prosecuted a man for littering, when a £20.00 or £10.00 not fell out of his pocket. How did that ever get to court, and why did the court not throw it out.

The British Bobby has, (by their own stupidity) become a laughing stock.

The fact that my attacker was a woman, has no bearing on the incident. A drugged up woman or man has strength they would not have normally.

She wanted to hurt me, maybe wanted to kill me, all I did was defend myself.

I stated you were sober! Im not disagreeing here John, just in the eyes of plod, your as guilty as she is. Ive had a similar situation and knocked a bloke out. I actually served time for it. Im not proud but so so so careful now. Just dont ever go down that route!

The dropping of the humble apple, is a very underestimated potential hazard .......... for a multitude of reasons.......

FACT..........

Indeed, one of the seeds may sprout, and if left unattended become a hazard when it become a tree, which falls over during a storm, causing a driver to swerve out of control and thus get 3 penalty points and a £60 fine. This sort of thing needs to be weeded out

Exactly - they have paperwork and meetings and focus groups to attend, then a couple of dogs to kill. They also have to plan sufficient crowd "kettling" to ensure that a death occurs. All of this obviously will require focus groups and early retirement due to stress.
