Always found it strange that MPs are given a free vote on “moral” issues but whipped to within an inch of their life on economy damaging issues like brexhit.
They get paid to (hopefully research and consult) make big decisions
Some people will agree, some won't .
I'm not a great fan of referendums. Too many people will vote by influence or opinion, without any relevant experience . Once you've seen a person (or more) suffer, a view can change. Not everybody has ever been in that position.
Do you think the average voter has enough experience, knowledge and thought to be able to vote on something like this ? I don't think they do. Probably only 10 to 20 % have experienced enough to have a proper thoughtful view: either for, or against it.
