I guess the point I was trying to make that, even if Atag boilers are "better" than what you call "lesser makes", the lack of available service and support has made my experience of owning one pretty negative.
In our previous house, we had a new boiler of a different make (I forget which). When we had a problem with it, we called the boiler manufacturer and they sent someone out to have a look at it. In contrast, when we had problems with our Atag boiler, that didn't seem to be an option. The emails I sent to Atag UK went unanswered and when I phoned them, the best they could do was read out names from a list of heating engineers who had attended their training course. It didn't feel like great support from what's supposedly a premium boiler brand.
