Fair play... but a bag for a George sized machine is just over a quid. Is it really cost effective?

I suppose it's excusable if you know for sure the dust is not harmful to health.

Is there any such dust?

without a hepa type bag the really small particles, the stuff that does long term damage to your lungs just goes straight through the henry and is re circulated back into the workshop - there may even be an argument that using a vacuum cleaner without a hepa type filter could be worse for your health. (if there was no dust extraction the thick dust would be unpleasant and you would cough and feel uncomfortable and leave the room, Not using a filter and just removing the larger dust particles makes it feel OK, but the tiny stuff that you can not see, the 0.3 micron stuff, the stuff that gets lodged deep within your lungs is still there and you will be breathing it in for longer)

Poor quality cheap bags kills the motor
Cheap vacs don't use bypass motors where the motive air is separated from the motor cooling air...
