Grow up. You know exactly what I mean. What are you suggesting - ask to see the qualifications of every person you ask advice from? Who's the stupidest here - a junior shelf stacker or a grown man for asking electrical advice from a shelf stacker?

How do you know if they know what they’re talking about? As someone said, if they were any kind if electrical 'experts' they wouldn’t be stacking shelves at B&Q. Who's the fool here - the lad or the grown up?

He obviously thought he did. Would you ask advice from a junior employee of a company that you were purchasing goods from for something you knew feck all about?

I understand there is a regulation stating Green/Yellow must only be used for Protective Conductors.

Kind Regards

I think the reg only says the colour G/Y and is quite specific of the percentage of each colour, must be used for a protective conductor
There is no reg I recall preventing oversleeving said colour for another purpose.
Though it is condoned by many.

I once found a 3 phase and N fuse box supplied by singles with each core overtaped the whole length about 2 metres

He obviously thought he did.
Why?

What grounds did he have for thinking that?

If he had been explicitly asked "How much do you know about electrical installation work?", what would he have said?

Try this scenario:

Your sister's partner (through something entirely and unarguably his fault) hurts his ankle in the store, and is finding it hard to walk.

The young assistant offers to bring his car to the front door of the store.

The young assistant knows he doesn't have a driving licence.

Would driving the car be an OK thing to do because he's being helpful?

John, motman - it's no good trying to persuade Mr Black-n-White about such matters. He'll only be happy when nobody but a state licensed electrical engineer is allowed to give even basic electrical advice. However there won't be a single one, because no-one would be prepared to accept the terms that would go with it - where making a mistake would lead to lifelong penury for both the engineer and his family.
In BAS's world, no-one would ever try and be helpful in case they got sued. They'd certainly never offer first aid to a stranger (excuse the over dramatisation, it's how this rag works).

@Bas. Funny how you ignore the questions I’ve asked you but not entirely out of character for you - when it gets too difficult, you just ignore the question. You sure you’ve not been a politician in the past?

Anyway, sorry for the delay between my posts, I just popped up the shop to get some milk and when I was in there, I thought I saw a loaf of bread named after you! Unfortunately I didn’t have my glasses on but when I looked closer, I was mistaken. It said “Thick cut”.

And I've suggested that where, exactly?

You appear to be as handicapped as Motman.
