Baby inquest told of water fault

How long will it be before we hear Messrs Bodgit and Scarper will jump on the band wagon and doing some cold calling ?

The assumption appears to be that it was Budgit and Scarper are cowboys and did the installation in the first place. Perhaps had it been installed by a CORGI man the incident would not have happened! I think not.

Ive been reading this thread with interest and sadness as really in this day and age this kind or incident should NOT happen.
If the open vent is designed right (Taken High enough) An air lock is always in the top of the vent pipe. If a flow switch was fitted in the said pipe and wired back to the element stat and boiler this would surely be a failsafe device. Your thoughts? regards chrisey.

What's the chances of it happening tomorrow.

very very slim,

What's the chance of someone getting stabbed tomorrow

you don't need to be CORGI registered to fit an immersion heater.. and most newer elements have thermal cut outs in addition to the thermostat..

All new immersion heater elements are required to have a thermal overload fitted

Chrisey open vent cannot have any valve whatsoever on it (an even more important safety issue) and not every loft is high enough to have a super high open vent also steam would still shoot up and over. The steam in this case had already traveled from ground floor level(reports said cylinder was downstairs).

How about a copper cylinder tank instead of plastic tank & cut the top off then fit a ballcock valve, they're not that expensive are they
