This genre of TV has ran for a few series, and is quite,no, very interesting. This week was a Northern family, and when they got to the 60's, it was stated that in the early 60's, 17% of the worlds goods were made in Britain, that's right, 17% of everything , anywhere, came from good old Blighty, then a year or two later we had a Labour Government and Harold Wilson as Prime Minister.

"The UK's share of global manufacturing output had risen from 9.5% in 1830, to 22.9% in the 1870s. It fell to 13.6% by 1913, 10.7% by 1938, and 4.9% by 1973." (Wiki)

The programme was wrong. Plus you don't actually claim that Wilson led to a drop - although you imply it.

However, British manufacturing was notorious for managers being scared of innovation and insisting on flogging dead horses made on knackered equipment.

Maybe. The thing is, even taking away manufacturing, we are still innovators, that's why the EU are trying to 'take' our Covid vaccine under 'their' umbrella and the Russians are hacking into universities to obtain the same information.

Whatever way you cut it mate, there are still areas in which we're world leaders, despite rsoles like you seizing every opportunity to do this country down.

Tell you what, why don't you have a word with ellal, he can't afford to leave this country now, perhaps if you shared a bedsit with him it would be more viable.

Go, leave now, together, and be happy.

Design is where the money is. Always has been. Most of the stuff I work on is 70-90% profit.

True, there is not much margin on stamping out boilerplate stuff. The money is in the innovation and design.

..and 53 years later, IQ's have fallen off a cliff, we have the Tories being run by an autonomous outsider and his bitch Boris getting Brexit done amid one of the worst financially crippling global pandemics ever to strike in the modern era.

Get Brexit Done lol.

The problem is that there are so many anti-British people living here with their stupid dogmatic British bashing of everything the country is trying to do and not supporting the country that is supporting them.

These people assist and support our competitors and enemies at every opportunity, they encourage division of their own country and create the "me me" culture. These people actually want Great Britain to lose at everything, to stumble, to come off worse, just so they can blurt it out on forums and social media.

When it gets to a level where the sixth in line to the throne is doing it - purely to suit his own agenda ( the me me attitude) then you know it's not going to get any better.

Chief among them, the Brextremists.

Who else would have chosen to damage our country so much?

Why not just adopt transam's swansong: "blame the foreigners"!

Ironic isn't, people like Fillyboy have no idea brexit and this Tory govt are the ones doing the greatest damage to this country.

Brexit is a great opportunity for foreign investment, otherwise known as asset stripping
