Bad Self Levelling Compound job

If the boards are too uneven to accept overboarding they need taking up and replacing with a few sheets of ply .

Why didn't you use 18mm ply? Or like someone else said cut the original floor up and stick the 18mm directly on the joists?

6mm ply is flexible so of course it would just follow the original floor in shape.

You just answered your own question

It's the joists that will be out of level, nothing is going to fix that other than SLC. But I doubt engineered wood floors can't cope with more variation than quoted too.

Why not just use new real wood floor boards rather than cover existing and put engineered wood on? Might work out cheaper and be an easier DIY job.

I have managed to level most of the sections that were way out

No wonder it wasn’t level, it’s an area of 36sqm, so you need 6 bags as a bare minimum, he used 5! And this stuff doesn’t self level if you don’t pour the minimum 3mm

I already used an extra 3 bags for the smallest room, and another 3 for some sections of another bedroom

I think it now looks a lot better, a couple of hundreds £ more than expected but it needs to be done
