Bath waste gap

The gap between the bath connector and waste trap is approx 30mm (see photo). The previous installers just forced the 2 together and covered the joints with copious amounts of sealant. The waste pipe (grey end) is rigid and it has a down size connector. I have considered cutting the grey pipe and inserting a flexible connector but there is only approx 25cm before the 90 degree bend. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Trap extension pieces are available for your situation in 1 & 2 inch lengths.

Most plumbers merchants would stock these.

Gasop, many thanks for your advice. I will go to my local plumbers and hopefully they will have it in stock..
