Hi,

Our boiler was losing pressure with water coming out of the pressure release valve pipe. I’ve replaced the pressure release valve but water is still coming out.

With the heating on the pressure is 2.5 bar, water is clearly more than dripping out of the pipe.

Is there something that needs to be reset when replacing the valve?

Thanks
Adam

Probably the charge in the pressure vessel, nothing to do with the PRV.

Thanks Denso13. Does this mean the pressure vessel pressure is too high or low? I’ll check to see if it’s around 1 bar

3 weeks ago I drain the boiler and re-pressurised to 1 bar. This evening the boiler started to make banging noises when in the shower. The water went hot cold hot etc.

The banging noises sound a bit like flapping, like a bad flat tire. I’m wondering whether the expansion vessel has popped.

I re-drained the boiler and checked the pressure, still at 1 bar. Reduced this to 0.5 as the manual suggests. Still the same issue.

the banging/flapping starts about 30 seconds in. Please see the attached video.

Does the expansion vessel need replacing?

Adam, leave the boiler alone else you will damage it

That banging noise is lack of circulation, water is turning to steam hence banging.

I agree it’s definitely time for a plumber. Just wanted guidance of what it might be so I have the confidence the plumber knows what he is doing.

is it ok to use while I wait for a plumber?
