oh well,since this has been moved to its own thread i'll give a few more details.
basically the pilot light is on but if i switch on either c/h or h/w the back bolier does not light.
i checked the pump and it still turns on and off ok.

the boiler is a baxi bermuda 401.

can you hear the gas valve click when you turn it on

well usually i'd hear it click,then the boiler would spirng to life

but now no click

apart from the heat exchanger its one of the most costly bits

If the solenoid operator has failed it is possible to purchase this seperately. The gas valve complete is not too expensive as it is only a Honeywell V4600 grey button gas valve. All the best.

just had a guy out to fix it ,£217 all in

You have been ripped off big time mate. Even BG would only have been about £150. Part no more than £60 and max off an hours labour to fit it
