Baxi Main Eco Compact 30kw

Spoke to number of Boiler engineers today via CheckATrader who all seem to be in favour of installing Main Eco Compact and not Vokera…..

Labour is coming in at at around £1000 to £1200 including chemical flush….

I might post job on MyBuilder as I have had brilliant trades people in the past from there and very competitive….
Use the gas safe register and find someone locally. You'll have lots to choose from.

Good idea!

Just searched the gas safe register and there are a fair few in my area and 3 literally a road away!

Whether they take the job on we shall see….

Thanks!

Word of mouth is best. But failing that you could cross reference with the Vokera/Baxi installers search on their website.

You could also search Heat Geek for an installer who has passed their qualification using the map at this link. It says for heat pumps but it works for boilers as well.

It does say heat pumps but they always seem to do boilers as well.

Why installers are more keen on installing Baxi/Main rather then Vokera despite the latter having ‘OpenTherm’ & low output / modulation ratio (I’ve been paying attention) and now I’ve been told about Worcester Bosch 2000 30kw and Alpha Boilers….

It's case of repetitive process. If you've already fitted 50 baxi's it will be very easy for you...

Every guy has their preferences, some prefer Worcester, some vaillant, some baxi etc

And many are also approved installers and some have done specific repair courses on a particular brand hence they go for that brand. Some even do manufacturer warranty work as a sub contractor.

Because the majority of installers out there are more interested in launching white boxes on the wall and making a fast buck than they are in providing the customer with the most suitable appliance for their home and actually bothering to take the time to set it up properly to match the system. Baxi are an easy sell because everyone has heard of them, and the majority of customers aren't educated enough to know the difference. Most condensing boilers don't actually condense because they aren't set up properly to suit the system they're attached to.

Hi All….

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoying a lazy Boxing Day and still in festive spirits - I hope, otherwise I might get a bit of flack for this….

Firstly thanks to everyone whom replied - it turned into quite a riveting debate.

After getting quotes after quotes and to and from what boiler to get, different installer saying different things and prices, I threw in the towel and just went with ‘Boxt’ - I know…

So it’s going to be a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 30kw or 8000 30kw with a 10/12 year warranty, chemical clean, WB magna cleaner, any pipe adjustments, thermostat, flue, carbon monoxide alarm etc all in at £2500 and couple hundred more for the 8000 Greenstar…..

They are quite easy and simple - no drama’s!

I hope - fingers crossed

Go for the 8000, it's much the better of the two. Hope they're giving you a Worcester modulating thermostat with it.

Eugh. That's the problem with these boiler-slinging companies, you often get the bare minimum. At least try to get a Comfort II RF, and preferably an EasyControl
