Hopefully someone can help.

Had our boiler serviced and fan changed as faulty in November 2011 and since then we have had a few problems that have got worse over time. May just we coincidence that this has happened since fan being changed - not sure.

Each morning and evening timer comes on for heating and shortly after the hot water - boiler fires up no problem, get hot water and rads hot.

When hot water timer ends actuator lever moves to heating only but boiler goes out. Heating will then not come on again until 3 hours later (this time gradually got longer over a few weeks).

Tried turning off even at mains to try and get it to start again but this makes no difference. Stat up full and house has got very cold at times so obviously needs to heat.

The same thing also happens with the hot water (If heating is on but satisfied)- it will not come on again for another 3 hours even if we have run out of hot water.

PCB has been changed (was still under warranty from last year) and sensor on fan but still made no difference.

Reading different posts I thought it may be the micro switches in the actuator as the lever moves to correct positions still but not sure now as surely it would not fire up at all on heating only?

Without being on site and looking at the problem with a multimeter etc it is not possible to even guess at what is going on, however it does sound like the fault is EXTERNAL to the boiler i.e. fault on controls components etc ;)
