I'd like to see a country that welcomes me, not fingerprints me.

I'd like to see a country where I can lock my bags when I fly without fear of them being smashed open by some government agency.

I'd like to see a country that doesn't use or condone torture.

I'd like to see a country that doesn't run an illegal prison where it detains foreigners and denies them basic human rights.

I'd like to see a country that doesn't pollute the world and refuse to do anything about it.

I'd like to see a country that hasn't turned the first proposition in its founding document into hypocrisy.

None of the above is meant to be hostile, and it is said with sadness, but it is an honest message about what your country has become.

BAS...I'm sorry you feel that way, There is a lot of negative here...I won't deny that....but there is beauty in the world, even mine. Come on....wouldn't you want to at least TRY disney world? Busch Gardens?
sit in the parking lot at Wal Mart and make fun of passers by? :)

Have been to California several times - ended up at a party of a high profile celeb last time I went. would definitely like to do that again - most entertaining

I've been to the States a number of times, mostly on business (but always with time for leisure) - Boston area, Raleigh/Durham NC, and Orlando once. Won an award trip to Hawaii a couple of years ago, and got a day in Chicago on the way back, and later that same year had a family holiday in NY & Boston (although the reason for that was to fly on Concorde).

I've liked most of what I've seen and most Americans I've met. I love NY, and were it not for the disgusting weather I could cheerfully live there.

There's a lot more I'd like to see, particularly some of the wilderness areas, and I hope to go back one day, but at the moment it's a pariah state as far as I'm concerned.

.

beggars cant be choosers, BAS, I'll take what you can give....I thought I detected just a little smile there....I won't press the point. Life in itself, no matter where you are.... can get too serious....ya gotta laugh sometime ;)

Well of course I'd have to take my family with me on this trip and tbh a week wouldn't be long enough LOL

I'd like to see my friend Tracy and her family in Florida - I've never met her two youngest kids. Not seen her in years now and even though we chat on the phone it would be wonderful to catch up properly & to meet all of her 'extended American family' that she married into. We could take the kids to Disney and she could also show me all the wonderful places she regularly visits :D

I'd then like to go to San Diego and visit my friend Mandy whom I haven't seen since we were in our early 20's. She also married an American guy and is now settled there with their kids :D

If I had time I'd also call in to see an elderly gent that I met online some years ago on a collectors chat forum. He also helped me through my final exams as he used to be a lecturer in my subject :) He's now severely disabled and living in a retirement home. I would truly love to meet him face to face before it's too late. My kids would also love to meet him, just to say a personal thanks for all the lovely gifts they've received from him over the years too :)

Oh yeah and if I had the chance I'd also like to cross over into Canada & finally meet my pen-friend who is now an email-friend after all these years too :D

I would like to go to Yellowstone Park and The Grand Canyon.

Don't worry - any day now (geological-timeframe speaking) Yellowstone Park is coming to see you.....

This won't ever happen now. I found out this afternoon that he passed away last week and his family told no one. Didn't even tell his surviving local friends and had a very quiet funeral for him - he'd have hated that bless him.
