Looking at downsizing, by that I mean fewer rooms but more space. Looking at bungalows, and one I looked at was 2 "bedrooms". One of them was 6'6" x 4'9". Good job I don't have a cat probably wouldn't be able to get it in the room, let alone swing it.

That’s a new build 3rd bedroom size.

I know what you mean though, we’ve been thinking about a move next year.

Correct, it is an old property, but I expect it will still be standing long after a new build has fallen down.

My first school was built 1880, and is still in use, my second one built at a similar date, has just been demolished in the past 20 years. However my third and final school opened 1963, demolished 1990.

Today I’ve been working on a property built in the 1600s

I’ve been repairing the sash windows from 1800s (and some horrible metal casements in timber sub frames)

Old houses might be standing longer, but I bet they also have had the timbers replaced more often! (based on sample of 2 houses).

But yeah, 6'6" x 4'9" is tiny. My bungalow's 3rd bedoom was 236cm square (7'8''ish), and that seems tiny - it's now a shower room. Only really large enough for a single bed, small bedside and small wardrobe.

Do you need 2 bedrooms though? Maybe one bedroom and a mini workshop ... or PC room, or a nice new shower room.

I have been idly looking at smaller houses. I find a three bed bungalow with two bedrooms (turns out the dining room is the third bed, cheeky fkrs).

Other rooms, like you found are dolls house sized.

What pees me off particularly is a bedroom described as a comfortable double, but one side is slap-bang up against the wall.

Perfect access for the older householder....
