I heard a snippet on the radio today that pupils were being paid by their school for passing their exams, up tp £150.00 per pupil. I only hope this was a private school and the 'bonuses' weren't coming out of the tax payers pocket.

What does this teach youngsters, only do something when there is something in it for you, not because you want to achieve something and better yourself. We'll be paying them minimum wage just to attend school next, has this country gone mad??

I didn't think you could fail them these days, oooh, contraversial as a certain Mr Elton would say.

When I was at school, some kids had been made promises like "If you get 5 A's at GCSE, we'll buy you a computer", "If you get 2 A's at A-level, we'll buy you a car" and so on.

Although, my parents never did this: their reason was "If you didn't get the marks we asked for then you would feel bad even though you would have still done well". Of course, at the time I just thought they were being mean

Why pay kids to pass exams. Where will the money come from? The education budget? Well, perhaps we could cure the NHS funding problems by paying people who get better quickly!
