You dont have a floppy/cdrw/pendrive/external hdd to mention but a few ways of transferring a file from one pc to another?

I obviously meant use a PC that was Internet connected to get the file and then transfer it via whatever means you have.

Winsocks did not do the trick.
There is still no gateway assigned.

If your router is setup as a dhcp server, and you are getting no conenction, then how will you get a gateway?
Are you SURE you tried a cable? can you try this cable in another machine?

There is limited connection.
Normally the computer/software sends a request down the line and a gateway is assigned. I tried the cable and it works fine with another computer.

start/run type cmd then hit ok
onthe black screen, type ipconfig /all
copy/paste the entire message. (right clikc on the black box, select "mark" then highlight all the text then click your button to copy it.

Thats why I wanted him/her/it to plug in the Cable and do an ipconfig

I still think this is either a wind up or someone that is genuinely to thick to own a pc - wont be the first one I've met... so unless they start helping us to help them, they are stuck with a pc that is offline as far as I'm concerned.

The media is diconnected because the cable is out of use and the wireless is working. The PC is receiving the signal I just cant log into the server. Insulting me is not solving the problem. Everything works fine except Btyahoo is not recognising this computer and sending the gateway. The pc worked fine till I had to move it to install wiring and plumbing under the floor. Belkin couldn't help Btyahoo could'nt help. I just hoped someone out there could.

Oh we are logging onto a server now are we? assuming you got the words "router" and "server" mixed up - which wouldnt suprise me in the least,
would indicate a wep/wpa/other wireless issue which is why you were asked to try a [C]able..... and post the results

so its not working - fine or otherwise

If you cant be assed helping yourself by carrying out simple tasks that we ask you to carry out - without being sarcastic, then I suggest you try ringing Abdul at BT again - I'll do you a favour and prepare you for his first question- "Have you tried restarting the computer"
