Hello. I have a Belling Farmhouse 90. Model number 444440380. The secondary oven (electric) has stopped working. I assumed it was the element so replaced this however still no power, as in it's not even turning on, no front unit power light either. Everything else on the cooker is working fine. Any ideas gratefully received? Thanks

Get a cheap multi tester and use the continuity test function to locate the fault

Thanks. I've got a multi-tester. Any tips where to start? I'm reluctant to pull the whole cooker out but I guess that's inevitable at some point.

Could be the oven switch failed?
That's where I'd start, I have a somewhat similar cooker a 2009, Belling 90E, Turn off the isolator and just pull all the switch knobs straight out and store them in a line, then pull the cooker out a foot or so and remove one screw at each end of the "switch" panel and about 6 strip screws if you look up underneath, you should then be able to pull out the panel a bit (gently) to get access to the switches/simmerstats then, I know it like the back of my hand because the simmerstats used to last only ~ 2 years on the most used plates, but for some strange reason are lasting ~ 4 years or so now. I had a Creeda Cavilier for over 20 years that never required a simmerstat.

When you say no front unit power light, do you mean the red ovenstat LED?, that only comes on hen the fan and oven light come on and your new element!!

You should be careful not to pull the panel out too far as the wiring can pull of the connectors fairly easily, you open the second oven door and support the right side of the panel on this, pull down the grill door on the left and with a 9 ins high cardboard box or whatever, support the left the left side of the panel on this and work away.

Thanks. I'll have a go tomorrow. What exactly am I looking for do you think, a loose connection or broken wire? I thought maybe the thermostat had gone?

Yes, of course, but the fan should run, (+oven light, if the bulb not blown), on mine when you turn the switch anticlockwise to the the first indent, the fan starts, keep turning to the second indent which is the max oven temp of 260C, the oven stat LED then lights, you can then keep turning the switch anticlockwise to select any required temp to a minimum of 60C, the stat LED will extinguish when the set temperature is reached and obviously light up again when the temperature falls, so check for 230V at the switch for a start but take care as you will have to switch up the isolator. You might be able to google the wiring schematic for that particular cooker or something similar. All my paper MI's tell me is that the oven is 2.3kw, (~ 24 ohms).

The main oven can be timed by the clock but not the other one, I like to switch off the cooker isolator at night so had to to reset the clock each morning, a pain, we never used this timer function but it eventually packed up and because the main oven then wouldn't work in any mode, I removed the timer completely and re wired it to just operate in manual, I don't think though that it affected the other oven but still a good point.

If the main oven is working after a cooker isolation and timer reset and the other one isn't then unlikely a timer fault?., anyway easy to check for 230V at the switch.

Update. Just read these threads and was about to reply to say the main oven is working absolutely fine and there is no power at all getting to the other oven, no fan light. I thought I'll just set the clock to see what happens and voila, the other oven suddenly springs into life when switched on!

Fabulous, and glad your back in business in time for Christmas, thanks to jj above.

As a matter of interest can or have you ever used the timer function on either or both of those ovens, it would be ironical if the main oven doesn't require a clock reset but the other one does.

Well hilariously when I replaced the element and it didn't work I assumed it wasn't that so put the original element back in. Now I have an oven that works but doesn't heat up so I'll have to put the new element back in and hope it is that. Thank goodness I didn't return it as intended. As least this clock issue is resolved. I've never used the timer for either oven but I think this was an issue with something being set rather than nothing. The display was flashing as it needed something to be set. As soon as I set it to the right time, the oven worked. Going to change the element (again) and I'm assuming everything will work fine....
