Bending metal trunking

...give it to one of our EU friends and you are garenteed a bit of a giggle ...not a lot have seen trunking let alone cut it ...

What is the preferred method of containment / cable choice if trunking is not used?

So if it's OK to take 2 lengths and join them together, why is it not OK to cut the ends of 2 lengths at an angle as shown in D and join them?

I see what you're saying here and agree in principle but surely it's about doing it the 'proper way' and making it look good. My first double set in 6" galv was a proud moment!

I was just wondering why "the proper way" is the proper way, and why it would be a sacking offence to use an alternative way which when finished would look almost identical, and would surely not be aesthetically unacceptable in the sort of environment which uses 6" galvanised trunking.

Maybe I will sometime - I've got some 50mm, so next year when it's warmer outside and I've got some free time, I might give it a go.

But I need to first prioritise practising the other dying art MOGER4 mentioned....

I'll not mention how long it took me to do the sets on this trunking - but I did get them right first time !
Nice.

I like the way the plumber installed his bits so neatly, and dressed all his cables properly....

Sometimes it is just easier in a plantroom to space the trunking off the wall with unistrut thus allowing pipes and other services to run beneath it so no need to keep making sets over them.

I hadn't finished the wiring when I took that one, though there is little to actually fasten the cables to - apart from hot pipes. The plumbing is mine as well, rather irritatingly I didn't get some of the pipes straight.

I did think about that. But these are the only sets needed, the rest can be straight on the wall. I did consider whether to take the brown drain pipe over the top of the trunking instead ...
