I've bought a drop-in induction hob (single "burner"), 3kW, and it's come with a 2.5mm flex attached. I do want to connect it via a plug so that I can lift it out if necessary for cleaning.

Best plug? MK Toughplug? Masterplug/Permaplug heavy duty? Fused spur feeding a 15A round-pin?

ano?

I would venture to suggest that if it didn’t have a plug fitted then it should be hard wired.

What do the installation instructions state

Mk tough plugs use wrap round terminals rather than holes and some people struggle with them, they are good sturdy plugs though

You tell me.

But on their website they say "Power - 3kw 13 amp supply required. If not hardwired 13 amp plug will be required." Which is fair enough, but I don't know why they use such a chunky cable.

With probably the same internals as grossly-marked up tat imported and badged by makers who purport to be German,

We shall see. The problem is there's little alternative once you've decided that you don't want touch controls and you don't want any controls on the surface of the hob.

Oh I thought it's 4 core or is that q different thread.
Anyway 2.5 3C into a MK ist not ideal.
