Best plug for 2.5mm flex

I have put 2.5mm (including ferrule) into the masterplug plugs several times, especially when making custom extension leads.
Available from Screwfix etc.

how does the ferrule work with them then? Does just half the screw just clamp down on the ferrule ?
If there long ferrules suppose you can wrap them round a bit
According to regs though , ferrules are only needed for certain types of terminals, assuming this don't Include the ring terminal, is there any reason not to cut them off.

I have tended to find that with flex already having ferules that the Live leads are too long and the Earth leads too short for proper connection in a BS plugtop (surely I am not the only one who likes to use the earthed loop extra length for last pullout considerations?) If I was to ferule them myself I would sort the lengths out in order, commonly the Line slightly shorter than the N to approx equal pull out and the E a lot longer in order to equate as last pullout, it`s what I always strive to achieve by habit.
I admit to have an aversion to short E conductors that sometimes might be a bit OTT of me.

All plugs are rated for use with fine stranded conductors (flex) so will be fine to use without. Generally speaking ferrules are always preferrred for a screw termination though
