Best Screws

I must use more screws than you do. Some of the cheap crap main/joinery contractors give us to work with are absolute sh1te for so many tasks. So no, not all screws are equal - which if you used better stuff once in a while, you'd realise. But then, you knew I'd contradict you on this point, didn't you? ;)
Quality is a different thing, and that's not what I was referring to.

A basic wood screw does exactly the same thing as any of the likes of Spax, Reisser or whoever with their "features" when used for general fixing. We're not talking about specialist screws for specialist tasks here.

The cost of some of those screws is partly taken up by elaborate processes, exuberant marketing, and pure profit. But it's a waste of money.

I would suggest that people must have a screw loose to buy into the claims. o_O

Pure profit? More likely that Spax, Reisser and Hospa being German brands they just cost more to make. But you gets what you pays for. Tell you what, why not send Keitai your address so he can send you a big bag of all the jumbled up screws that were on the floor of his van. I'm sure you'll love them! :sneaky:

In reality some of the jobs we do don't warrant the "good stuff", but some of the awful carp peddled by some suppliers (like the "chipboard screws" we got from a major supplier which almost all anapped if you drove them with an impact driver) really doesn't cut it

 Declined

If he sees the number of half-finished jobs at Woody Towers, he may insist on hanging around to complete a few!
