Saw my first swallows this year flying up and down the little ouse.

Today i saw a heron leaving our pond with a koi of about 10" it had trouble flying with it and kept dropping it in our field. Went off to get some netting came back and found another dead by the side of the pond  I don't begrudge him a living but ffs he's taking the pi55 now. I thought last night the numbers were down, I reckon he's been having a right time of it while we've been at work.

yea, i gave up trying to keep Koi in our pond, it was just a fast food outlet for passing herons.

I had the same problem, Herons are amazing birds.....but a nuisance to us Koi keepers. I lost over 20 fish when I was away one year, even though someone was looking after my pool. The heron must have knew I was on holiday

New build was finished with a large pergola over the pool, no more Heron trouble now :p

Have been sat in the garden this afternoon and have seen a good dozen or more swifts high in the sky.
