bit of electrical advice required

Tom - somebody who wasn't sure what they were doing asked for advice, and this is how you told him to connect up his fan:

1) take a permanent supply from the lighting circuit

2) run 2 wires from the fan to the switch. One of these wires should be red, the other should be either a black wire or a bare wire.

If you think it is pedantry to regard that as badly worded then you're delusional.

And dangerous.

tom, not that we are having a go at you but in my book 2 wires running from the fan to the switch, to control the on/off action of the fan (one red, the other black/bare) makes 3 wires

and how do you have a black/bare wire anyway (so i assume you mean black and bare.)

you also do not state size of cable

What markings are on the connector block on the fan?
