History lessons don't include the years 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.

West Germany deleted 1939-45 but in East Germany it was taught in detail. Every member of the German Free Youth was required to visit at least one concentration camp site before they were 18 year old.

The communists hated the NAZI party and this hatred continued when the Russians took control of East Germany

Obviously the war could not be denied, but knowledge of the Holocaust and similar activity between 1930 and 1945 was heavily censored when schools taught history.
