Blistering paint (Ed.)

Just an update in case anyone ends up here in future. Getting there now, I’ve got any visible yellow spots off, ceiling has now been filled and sanded. Tomorrow I’ll give it a wipe down then finally get some Gardz on.

As far as getting the distemper off goes, I found the scraper was the best method but there were some pretty stubborn spots. My other half had some success with a magic eraser (melamine sponge, £2 for 3 at B&Q) but I found 120 grit sand paper was much quicker.

It’s a horrible messy job, hoping I can start making some progress now and move on from painting

Hopefully final update.

Gardz went on Wednesday eve. Gave it 2 coats of pure brilliant white yesterday and a final one this morning. All looking good, no peeling or bubbling. Hell of a lot of effort but I think I'd have been playing whackamole constantly letting it peel, using peelstop, filling and then painting over
