Our extension has cracks in the joints even though it's only about 7 to 8 feet up from the foundations. Unfortunately I dont think it's anything minor as it's in both the inside and outside walls.
Does anyone know who I could get to inspect it. Any particular kind of surveyor or engineer etc? Thanks.

Blocks crack like digestives, given the right circumstances. Aerated blocks almost always crack.

My reply is in the blue box above for some reason. In case you can't see it.

Photos would be useful

I don't think photos will demonstrate it very well. A close up would just show the cracks in the joints and further out won't show anything.
There's a crack in the joints below a window above the dpc.
And right by a step in the foundations there's one below dpc on the outside. And at the same place on the inside skin.

No idea then! It's probably just shrinkage and/or the blocks sucking the mortar dry. But in the absence of photos it could be falling into a giant sinkhole for all anyone can tell.

I'm not really expecting to get a diagnosis. I think it needs an inspection etc.
Just want to know what profession I need to hire.

A step in foundations and under windows are areas where this sometimes happens. How much of an issue it is i wouldn't like to say.

Ok. Thanks any idea who I need to employ to take a look at this?
