Blocked soakaway (i think)

Well, i rang TW. They said they weren't responsible as it wasn't shared. I explained it was effectively shared from roof level as the guttering drains to my house.

They then said they weren't responsible for dealing with rainwater so i asked why im paying for it in my bills if eyre not treating my rainwater and they agreed they might be responsible but will only come out when i have a problem. And its sunny and dry so will just have to ring them next time it pours i guess.

I think i'll still try and get a drain rod in there if i can though.

As for the plinth mentioned just above ground level - whats the best way to remove it?

Thank you all for your help so far! :)

Remove the plinth with a hammer and brick chisel (or cold chisel). Try not to damage the face of the brickwork. Find your DPC.

Its another issue, and perhaps another thread, but do you have any damp indications on the inside wall decorations? How many air bricks are in the front elevation.

Utilities are slippy but maybe email to your local Councillor or read the latest water Regs? You have a present problem on shared drainage - just guessing but AAMOI the man hole in the road will possibly have an outlet from your gulley but only those authorised can lift it.

If your gulley drains to main drainage then it will have a trap. If so, clean it dont attempt to rod it.

FWIW: This thread really should be in the Building Forum.
