My girlfriend has gone and dropped a perfume bottle down the pan and it has disappeared to god knows where. Now when solids pass down the water level comes right up to the top of the pan and stays there for a good couple of minutes then gradually goes down.Sometimes it will unblock itself but the majority of the time i have to stick on my rubber gloves and try to loosen the blockage by pushing down some old coiled tubing that i got from work and prod around for ages until the suction starts.I cannot manage to push the bottle out and through the waste pipe and cure this problem for good so it must be stuck somewhere between the pan and the soil stack outside.Any ideas?I\\\'ve been advised to tie up the ball cock and take out the pan and get it that way,is this easy for a non plumber like me?And will i be able to put it all back together afterwards?Any advice would be gratefully received.

She dropped the bottle down there, tell her to get it out :) :)

I've already stuck my hand down as far as i can get it and can't feel a thing. How far would it be able to go before getting stuck?

There is a bend at the bottom of the pan and then an upward part which leads to a straight.Could the bottle have been sucked passed the bend and upwards into the straight? The straight part has a connection that turns into a plastic pipe before it goes outside.Maybe i could do something there?

Impossible to say without knowing the layout and whats happening I couldn't say.

The next thing I would look at is if the manhole outside was filling just to define how far that perfume bottle has gone.

If you do find it is it pretty full so you could give it to someone for xmas prezzie?

It can't have gone too far as the coil that i have from work to rod it is only around 3 foot long. Its bendy and seems to dislodge it to let the solids and paper pass it but never actually knocks it out and into the outside soil pipes.I havent had any problems out side the house so im thinking that its a distance of between 3 feet from the pan.Maybe i will just have to unscrew the pan and take it away from the connector at the straight and then have a good rummage.Does that sound like a viable option for me?

You could try taking the pan out but before you do check in the garden to see if you have a manhole that is running ok to elliminate between the 2

Ok sime10 thanks for your help on BOTH my problems.Your a star for taking the time out to help. Will put my plan into action after 1pm tomorrow. :D

Just completed stage one sime10.Sorted out the perfume bottle(Hugo Boss For Women by the way).I took out the pan and it was there stuck in the straight before it went to the outside wall.I have now safely secured the pan down and gonna hope for the best.My other problem of leaking still exists though. Please read the other topic.
