That's because only boring shops can afford the ridiculous high rents there. Go to villages where loads of independent shops etc are located - or special designed centres in villages or near towns.
Artisan and independent businesses are on the rise, town centres are being deserted - even by shoppers.
...The amusing thing is....
one day (soon?) when the only employer is Tesco(or indeed insert any of the big supermarkets). then (apart from prices rocketing) they will dictate what rents they are prepared to pay and may even start dictating business rates too.
Councils do not give a stuff about high rates because they get their rates whether the shops are vacant or not, its time we all got together before its too late
