Got a house with solid stone/ brick walls which are around 45cm thick. There were some damp problems related to outside ground levels causing the damp to rise up the walls. i have resolved this by digging a trench around the house so i dont expect any major damp climbing up those walls again.
thankfully the concrete floor was laid with dpm underneath and it is bone dry. however there is a small gap where the walls meet the floor and i have removed as much soil as possible from this gap and i want to fill this with cement to avoid any damp coming through these gaps.
As you can see in the photo the tanking that was applied to the wall by some "damp specialists" have been removed already . To the left of the spirit level its all solid (45cm thick) wall where as to the right side ,it is an internal wall with bricks on edge.
Now my question is , would i better off boarding the walls with the dot and dab method using standard plaster board or use some kind of foil backed board screwed on to battens and leave some sort of airing gap behind ?
Or is there a better option ?
