I recently got a government grant to top up insulation in loft, and have 'better' boiler controls added, loft went ok but the guys couldn't manage to wire up my new boiler control properly, when I just turn the hot water on it would also turn the rads on, the boiler is very old baxi solo 2, have added some pictures to see if someone here can work out what they have missed, will not name the company as this was all free and they came back several times to try to remedy the situation, as they say **** happens.

The photos you've posted, are these how they have been left after the switch to Wiser?
Theoretically, the Wiser is a direct swap for the LP241, the only wiring modification needed, would be to decommission the old stat, and that should be straightforward.

No they are how they are now, they did get it wired up, but when they left like I said with the hot water on it would also heat the rads, the diverter valve would stay at mid point.

And did they do anything to decommission the old stat - linking it out, or did they tell you to keep it set to maximum?

I think he terminated the wires in a wago, they are back to normal now.
Sorry, I may have misunderstood.
What do you mean when you say they are back to normal now?
Has the old LP241 and stat been put back and is working correctly?

Yes everything is back to normal and working.
Ok. Good.
Then as I said this is a straight swap.
Just put the Wiser in place of the LP241 and keep the old stat set to maximum.
If you still have the same problem, the Wiser is faulty (or may possibly be misconfigured).

They did a straight swap but it didn't work
But you also said...
but the guys couldn't manage to wire up my new boiler control properly,
Currently they have left the system in a perfectly working state.
The wiring connections needed for the dual channel Wiser are identical to those of the LP241.
If the 3 port valve doesn't operate correctly with the Wiser, when it does with the LP241; the brand new Wiser must be at fault!

Ok have swapped to the wiser, it started hot water straight away, have turned of with app, seems to be working, also put stat at max as you suggested, currently the wiser is flashing green in setup what does this mean.

Yeah I just pressed setup once and it is not flashing, thanks they never tried leaving stat on max is that why it didn't work properly, and do I have to leave it like that all the time.

No, that shouldn't have effected the behaviour. It should have meant that the heating wouldn't have turned on at all.

My guess is they did something when they tried to link the stat out by Wago's.

do I have to leave it like that all the time.
It depends what you want to do.
You can leave the stat set to maximum, or behind the stat, move the yellow wire in terminal 3, over to L.
Alternatively, the whole lot can be removed, but we may need to do a bit more digging into the wiring first.
