Hi Guys
I have an outbuilding approx 17 metres from my house I am thinking of hooking up the hot water supply from my house boiler to feed a shower in the building and maybe install a salamander booster pump to improve the pressure any idea if this would work any info much appreciated

Thanks Andy but I'm looking to see if it's possible to do this first because I have a plan to build another project in my garden and don't have capacity on my board for another electric shower

What you suggest is possible but will be extremely wasteful of water while waiting for the hot water to reach the shower.

In a similar situation ( long pipe runs due to the layout of my cottage ) I fitted a hot water cylinder close to the shower and heated it with a coil with flow and return from the boiler.

No waiting for hot water and very little wastage of water.

17m is no more than what weaves it's way around many houses - try a roll of 10mm plastic. You shouldn't need a pump unless low water pressure or on a gravity system.

17m around a house is a lot different from running 17m under the ground in the rear garden.

Is it that much different if insulated and buried at a reasonable depth? Something I considered a few years ago just for handwashing in my workshop at the end of the garden - I had a nice deep trench for a power supply and surface water drainage but didn't bother in the end.
