I would also support Dan, with mine it was simple unclip empty and replace and it was running again, no parts fitted, did not even remove front cover.

However how could a gas safe guy not know that? So either the guy is a complete novice, or there is some thing odd going on. However with Bosch Worcester fixed price repair, most gas safe guys don't repair them as can't compete on price, so maybe he is a complete novice?

First thing i checked I had gas and the handle on the outside of the house was in the on position. We are LPG and have 55% in the tank

Just had a call from the engineer; he has been to the parts shop and had to order the board, he has ordered a overheat flue stat also as it may be that. These will be in tomorrow,

I went to a boiler this morning that had failed to work.

You learn quickly in this job to check the basics, so I asked cust if he had gas (LPG), yes, the gauge says 60%.
Put meter on boiler, no gas.

My post is irrelevant in that boiler gurgling, as others have said, is usually condensate related.

I now have heat and hot water, engineer turned up and fitted the over heat flue sensor that fixed it he didnt need the board. He then informed me "no offence to you I just want this job over with as i dont get paid for this as its a diagnostic fault and i should have spotted it day 1". Unbelievable he fitted the sensor and said all working but no heat "silly me forgot to turn the gas back on". If this post is still open i will put the outcome from my complaint of 11 days without heating and hot water.

Has that cured the chugging? Seems odd, the flue stats I've seen are just open/close, and while open would obviously stop the boiler working, I can't see it would chug prior to opening. And if it did, changing the stat is unlikely to cure it. Also they can be reset by pushing a pop-out pin back in. Doing that would have identified the problem and maybe given you heat for a while, even if the stat was on the way out and needed changing eventually.

Could clearing the condense have sorted, but was locking out cos he forgot he had turned off the gas..?

OP: what have you actually paid.? Do yoh have to pay and claim, or do the insurance pay the RGI direct?

I am covered up to £500 this is paid by insurance, all I have paid is the £140 for a wiring loom and a gas valve.

Ok so I have heat and hot water but my boiler is now dripping water? it seems to be coming from where the condensate pipe leaves the boiler. My question is can i undo this plastic nut and wrap PTFE tape around it to stop the leak or is this under pressure and will flood out? it was loose and i have tightened by hand but still a small amount of water around top of this plastic nut.

its not under pressure but the blocked condensate has been your problem all along as many advised you , it needs sorting and PTFE is not the answer , you have a blockage somewhere
