The mechanical timer appears faulty in that the central heating is on permanently whether or not the switch on the timer is set to "timer" or "permanent". However, if does switch off if either the timer is set to "Off" or the thermostat is set to a temperature below ambient. Therefore, I assume there must be an internal fault within the timer.
My question is, can I replace the Gledhill timer with another make? The replacement is £80 whereas suppliers such as Screwfix have timers for under £13! Has anyone any experience of replacing these timers with another model?
