Thanks far the feedback so far with this saga.

I was thinking about inventing an un-breakable car but then a lot of people would be put out of work and the vehicle tax would be astronomical to compensate !!

I have found that with diesels, the vacuum pump does tend to suck the pedal down a bit - I admit to replacing two master cylinders in the past, probably unnecessarily, but that's life!
